Master of Theology in Christian Counseling Degree Online Program Description

The Master of Theology Program in Christian Counseling (Th.M) is 36 semester hours in length and provides a Biblical foundation of study in counseling for individuals, so that they may more aptly assist a hurting flock with their needs.

Each student will be assigned a mentor to help him or her throughout the program.

GBNT 545 Epistles of John

This course gives a detailed look at books written by John the Beloved. It sheds light on all major points and gives commentary on each chapter separately. Each book begins will an outline and a short overall survey and then proceeds to give detail spiritual and historical data.

GBTH 592 Christ Our Healer

This course deals with the healing ministry of Jesus. It explains God’s will for healing today, even as it was His will in ancient times. The subject of faith is also addressed in this commentary. The relation of sickness to sin is discussed in great detail.

GBTH 540 Covenants

This course discusses all of the Old Testament Covenants and how the culminate in the Messianic Covenant and have viable information for us in today’s society. The true biblical definition of the word “covenant” is discussed and how it relates to our modern world today. It also compares the word covenant from both the Old and New Testament perspective.

GBTH 520 The Holy Spirit

This course in pneumatology defines the works and teachings of the Holy Spirit in relationship to the Messianic Kingdom of God. The course defines the Trinity, the personality of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit‘s works in the Old Testament, Baptism in the Holy Spirit, and the Nine Spiritual Gifts.

GCCS 550 Christian Counseling I

This course gives an overall view of many problems that Believers face, and how the counselor can help. It discusses briefly, the differences of Christian Counseling. The course is divided into four sections; The Counselor, Personal Issues, Interpersonal Issues, and Family Issues.

GBTH 580 God’s Righteousness in the Believer

This course describes the righteousness given to us by the work of Messiah. It examines the righteousness of both the Old and New Testaments. It discusses atonement at length and such topics as: Propitiation, Reconciliation, Imputation, Sanctification and Justification.

GBTH 553 Spiritual Warfare III

This course deals with overcoming conflict that is caused by the demonic realm. It gives us information on how Jesus dealt with demons, how our decisions can be a form of warfare, spiritual management, mind management and weapons of our warfare.

GCCS 560 Christian Counseling II

This course gives an overall view of many problems that Believers face, and how the counselor can help. It discusses briefly, the differences of Christian counseling. The course is divided into four sections; The Counselor, Personal Issues, Interpersonal Issues, and Family Issues.

GCCS 523 Counseling for Change

This course deals with self awareness and change. It gives a biblical perspective on how to change the circumstances in one’s life. It discusses counseling and the Church as well as counseling in the community. It specifically deals with: anxiety, loneliness, depressions, anger, guilt and life stages.

GCCS 530 Marriage Counseling

This course begins with premarital counseling and continues through problems that exist within marriage, taking a look at Biblical marriage models. It will give tips of choosing the right mate, the effects of premarital counseling, Marriage problems, and working through marital conflicts.

GCCS 501 Christian Counseling 100

This course will give a basic overall view of the need for Christian Counseling. It will also familiarize the student with different areas of counseling theories and techniques. Some of the major topics are: the Church as a Healing Community, Systems and Social Networks, and Groups Counseling.

GCCS 529 Counseling, Psychology and the Christian

This course reveals the area of a believer’s warfare is in the mind. It discusses man’s triune being, demonic activity, and gives seven detailed behavior patterns as seen from an Old Testament perspective. Other sections in the course include: Shaping our Destiny, Spiritual Management and Managing the Mind.
