Combo BA/MA Clinical Counseling

Combo BA/MA Clinical Counseling Online Program Description

The Combination BA/MA in Clinical Pastoral Counseling Program is designed to give the student an advanced background in Christian Counseling, and incorporates the programs which will allow for National Christian Counseling Association (NCCA) licensure. This program is designed for those students who do not hold a bachelor’s degree at the current time. Upon completion of requirements, the student will be issued two degrees simultaneously, a Bachelor and Master of Arts in Clinical Pastoral Counseling. This online program is 180 semester hours in length course work, life learning and experience and equivalency examination.

Each student will be assigned a mentor to help him or her throughout the program.

To qualify, the prospective student must have graduated from high school and be a mature Christian of 30 years of age or older. Additionally, he or she must have eight or more years of ministry experience. The candidate must complete a 500 question open book equivalency exam on the Bible, and complete the Life Learning and Experience Portfolio (LLEP). The student must have earned an Associates Degree in some field or at least sixty (60) semester hours. Based on previous education and experience, the candidate may apply for consideration into this program.

NCCA’s Certification/Licensure Program is not to be confused with state licensure. Most states have regulatory laws governing the practice of psychology. Many states also have laws governing the practice of general counseling. States recognize that counseling is one of the responsibilities of the church and its clergy. For this reason the state does not interfere with the ministry of counseling as long as the counseling is provided under the following conditions: The counselor is ordained, commissioned or licensed, that the counseling service is provided by and represented as a Christian or pastoral counselor.
